What Tessellate and this site collect: as little as possible.
Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version
Tessellate collects nothing and sends nothing about you. No account, no telemetry, no ads. Your games, profiles, play history and settings stay on your PC.
When the app talks to the internet
Only for things you'd expect, and none of it carries personal data about you:
- Update checks: asks for the latest version number and downloads it if you agree.
- Pattern feed: downloads the list of game setups (patterns) and the ones you install.
- Game art: cover images from Steam's public servers, and from SteamGridDB only if you add your own API key.
- Steam store: looks up whether a game has co-op, by its public app id.
- Steam Web API: only if you add your own key, to list the games you own. The key is stored in Windows Credential Manager.
- Downloads you ask for: the Steam emulator or an emulator, from their own release pages.
- Discord Rich Presence: only if you switch it on. It talks to the Discord app on your PC, which shows what you're playing.
These requests are ordinary web requests, so the servers that answer them (such as GitHub, Steam or Discord) see your IP address as they would for any visit.
This website
tessellate.games is a static site hosted by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies. Cloudflare, like any host, keeps standard server logs. The in-browser demo uses sample data and stores nothing about you.
The site counts visits with Umami, a self-hosted, cookie-free tool run by the owner. It sees which page was opened, roughly where from (country) and what kind of browser, plus a few clicks: the demo and download buttons and which of the little scenes on the home page were played with. It stores nothing on your device, keeps no personal profile, never follows you to other sites, and respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. The app itself has no telemetry.
